Jeans
Of course, there is a time and place for jeans! (There’s even a time for yoga pants but that’s another discussion.) If you think you don’t wear jeans it’s because you don’t own the perfect pair.
Jeans come in all kinds of styles, colors, fits, washes, bedazzles, and destructions. If you don’t own a pair of you jeans that you truly enjoy, it’s time to start the quest. Let me warn you, you may have to kiss a lot of frogs to find that denim prince, but it will be worth it.
The first thing to ask yourself is, “Where do I want to wear them?” Are you going out to the barn or to an uptown cocktail party? Let’s meet in the middle and get a casual pair you can wear shopping and lunch with friends. Next, let’s look at your budget. You can get jeans at Goodwill for $8 or Versace for $1,000. Stores that specialize in denim or introduce a new collection each season like American Eagle, Buckle, Chico’s, Lucky Brand, Hollister, Loft, … it’s a long list … have sales associates to help you. Men walk in and say, “34R.” We are not that lucky. You need to go into the fitting with at least 6 pairs of jeans. With each pair, catalog in your mind (or make notes) what you like and what you don’t. This will help the sales associate figure out what to bring you. If you leave empty handed, don’t be disappointed. It’s not you, it’s the clothes. Wait a few days and try another store.
Is it worth the effort? Yes, because the comfort is fabulous and the styling options are limitless. There is a reason why 450 million pairs of jeans are sold in the USA each year. Come join the club.
